Tuesday 15th May was Staff and Teachers Appreciation and Recognition day. In the early hours, the children surprised us with beautiful gerberas and roses, to celebrate this special occassion. In the PE hall, staff and teachers were treated to a great, entertaining programme with speeches, gifts, poems and the first performance of The Tenbeat Band! Thank you children and parents, for a wonderful day, the stunning flowers and amazing food!
Swimming like dolphins!

A large group of children represented our school in the KRP Swimming Gala and they all swam really well; both individually as well as in the relay races. It was a long, hot, but fantastic day for everyone! Thank you Mr. Hennie, Miss Chloe, children, parents and teachers for making this a smashing, splashing event!

Amazing Art Exhibition!

To celebrate the start of our IPC unit ‘Pictures, Paintings and Photographs’, we visited Jacqui Brinkhorst’s amazing exhibition in the Hornbill House. We admired her paintings and mosaics and studied the art works, answering related questions. We learned a lot and we will be able to do some mosaic work ourselves, under the supervision of the artist herself. Thanks so much for your time and expertise, explaining about the direct mosaic technique and talking about your inspiration, method and materials Jacqui! And of course for the lovely banner and a creative art card for each of us. We had a fantastic afternoon, making our own mosaics and we would like to thank Jacqui for her time and enthusiasm to help us with our art work. Come and have a look at the results!Enjoy!
Parents and Year 3 celebrate Exit Point – Food and Farming.

It was fantastic to see so many parents in our classroom, while Year 3 was dressed up as cowboys and presented their learning to their mums and dads! In between we sang ‘The Nations of the World’, ‘The Ballad of Ferdinand Magellan’, ‘Oats, Peas, Beans and Barley Grow’ and ‘The Garden Toolbox’. The children then showed their learning around the classroom and in their IPC books, after which we moved to the PE Hall to perform our line dance routine. It was another wonderful afternoon full of ‘great teaching, great learning, great fun’!

Muhiba Market visit!

We had a wonderful time at the Muhiba Market, in the middle of town, opposite the bus station. The children explored the market in small groups and tried to answer some questions and carry out some tasks, while looking at all the products on display. From fruits, plants and vegetables to live stock and a wide variety of local rice! The children asked for low and high mileage products, found out local names for products, compared prices and bargained for the best fruit. We also met our friend Mr. Khan, who was so surprised to see us there! At the end of the trip all 4 groups bought fruits for our smoothies back in class.
